Support your community
Throughout the year, YWCA Clark County offers a variety of events and workshops that provide opportunities to support your community.
Our events provide educational, awareness and fundraising opportunities. Program specific workshops engage the community and focus on education and advocacy. Learn more about our workshops at individual program pages or by viewing them on our calendar.
YWCA’s annual luncheon is a popular event that spotlights our programs and mission, showcases powerful testimony, and engages our community on a deeper level.
Register today and join us Wednesday, September 10th at the Hilton Vancouver as we welcome Sonia Manzano to Clark County. Sonia’s message of empowering children aligns well with our Y’s Care Children’s Program, which offers an empowerment-based model of child education and support to low- and no-income families.
Best known for her role as “Maria” on Sesame Street, Sonia brings 44 professional years of acting, writing and speaking to the stage. She’s received awards from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in Washington DC and The Hispanic Heritage Foundation. In 2005 Sonia was inducted to the Bronx Hall of Fame.
After starring on Sesame Street for ten years, she began writing the script. She’s received 15 Emmy Awards as one of the writers for Sesame Street. She also wrote for the Television show Little Bill on Nickelodeon. On stage, she has performed in The Vagina Monologues and The Exonerated. Published in 2004, No Dogs Allowed! was Mazano’s first picture book. In 2007, she published her second book A Box Full Of Kittens.
This September, Sonia will share perspectives on the limitless potential of children. Regarding one impression she shares, “When I was a kid, there was a lot of chaos going on around me and I did find a certain comfort in television sometimes. I hope I can be remembered as the person who created a moment of safety for a child watching.”
Sponsorship levels span from $1000 to $5000 to provide opportunities for all interested businesses, organizations and individuals. Each level offers a range of benefits. Shared benefits for all levels include a table for ten at the luncheon, recognition on our website, at the event and in the program.
Annually drawing 500-600 guests each year, the luncheon promotes to more than 2,000 YWCA supporters. Attendees share a common passion for our mission. They are philanthropic and community-spirited leaders who are inspirations to their friends and families. Through event sponsorship with YWCA, you can engage with this influential audience. Additionally, your sponsorship helps maximize contributions supporting YWCA’s 7 programs that collectively serve about 11,800 new individuals annually.

Classic Wines Auction
YWCA Clark County partners with the Classic Wines Auction (CWA) to present a fantastic fundraising event that includes a gala auction, winemaker dinners, and Ambassador’s Dinner. Funds raised from these events support the work of non-profit organizations such as Metropolitan Family Service, New Avenues for Youth, Friends of the Children – Portland, Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel and YWCA Clark County.
Classic Wines Auction started when a small group of friends raising funds for Portland Metropolitan Family Service formed a non-profit entity in 2004 after experiencing an overwhelmingly positive response from Wine Spectator magazine and the community. According to a 2010 article in Wine Spectator magazine, CWA is one of the top ten charity wine auctions in the United States. The auction continues to gain support, and consistently raises more than $2.2 million annually.
